National Cancer Institute (NCI) – http://www.cancer.gov/ has extensive information on types of cancer, treatments, coping with cancer, a dictionary of cancer terms, the NCI drug dictionary, cancer statistics, clinical trials, cancer prevention, genetics, and full text of NCI fact sheets form this important website. There is a link to PDQ (Physicians Data Query) which is NCI’s comprehensive databases of cancer information and treatment for physicians. A telephone help line, live online chat service and email help support the extensive information found here. Information is also available in Spanish. Founded by and for cancer survivors, NCCS created the widely accepted definition of survivorship and defines someone as a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life.
Cancer Care, Inc. (http://www.cancercare.org/) is a nonprofit organization “whose mission is to provide free professional help to people with all cancers through counseling, education, information and referral, and direct financial assistance.” Maintains links to support, educational, treatment, and information services. Site is also available in Spanish.
Intercultural Cancer Council (http://interculturalcancercouncil.org/) promotes policies, programs, partnerships and research seeking to eliminate “the unequal burden of cancer among racial and ethnic minorities and medically underserved populations in the United States and its associated territories.”

Foundation for Women’s Cancer (http://www.foundationforwomenscancer.org) is the official site of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. This nonprofit organization is “dedicated to increasing research, education and awareness about gynecologic cancer risk, prevention, early detection and optimal treatment.” It has information on the organization, the types of cancer that affect women, cancer risks for women, and a search engine to locate gynecologic oncologists. There are also links to related sites, publications and support groups.
