Calaway • Young Cancer Center Honors Cancer Survivors

WHAT IS NATIONAL CANCER SURVIVOR MONTH?

An individual is considered a survivor from the time of their first diagnosis through the rest of their life. Every cancer survivor has a personal and unique story filled with emotions, adversity and challenges, during and after treatments.

June is recognized as National Cancer Survivor Month and provides each of us the opportunity to celebrate those whose lives have been affected by cancer and learn about the many challenges that accompany survivorship.

Celebrate Survivors at Rally the Valley

Join us at Rally the Valley on September 10 for the ultimate Survivor Party celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Calaway • Young Cancer Center. It’s a free event at Two Rivers Park in Glenwood Springs and will feature a Yoga Session, 1-mile Walk, Music, Kids Zone, Food Trucks, River of Love Remembrance Area, Survivor Forrest featuring Photos, speakers, DJs, Giveaways, and more! If you aren’t able to attend Rally the Valley, sign up for another event in honor of your Special Survivor!

Go on an Adventure

Make memories with the survivors in your life – hike your favorite trail, try a new activity or go on a vacation together.

Spend Quality Time

Make time for the survivors in your life – stop by for an afternoon visit, go out to coffee or lunch or pick up the phone and have a conversation – just spending time and being there is what’s important.

Small Token of Appreciation

Letting survivors know that you’re thinking of them is a great way to honor them throughout the month. Sending a handwritten note or flowers is always appreciated.

Share of Photo

Share a photo on social media to let your cancer warrior know that you love and support them! #CancerSurvivor

Make a Donation

Make a donation in your survivor’s name to their favorite cancer organization or event. Two great causes that benefit cancer patients in our valleys include Rally the Valley or the Valley View endowment for cancer patients.
